Facey partners with Kraft

Facey Commodity Merchandise & Pharmaceutical was taken to another level at the Concorde Experience where it was announced that Kraft Foods, one of the largest food companies globally, was entering a partnership with Facey.CEO for the local group of companies, Paul Inniss, gave a brief history of Facey starting in Jamaica from a family-owned business in 1926 as commissioned agents to the point where in 2000, Facey was acquired by Barbadian businessman the late Desmond Blades. Blades was born in Barbados but migrated to Jamaica. He was awarded the Order of Jamaica by the Jamaican government in 2009 for his contribution to business and the economy of Jamaica. However, he always had a desire to make a contribution to his homeland Barbados. Today Facey is now one of the largest distribution companies in the Caribbean and Central America employing over 3 500 employees.Inniss was pleased to announce that Kraft Foods had appointed Facey Commodity as the distributors for its range of Kraft Chilled Cheese, Oscar Mayer Meats, Nabisco Biscuit range and a part of the Kraft confectionary line.Attending the launch were Minister of Labour Esther Byer-Suckoo; Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Empowerment, Innovation, Trade Industry and Commerce, Patrick Todd; Minister of Agriculture Senator Haynesley Benn; Comptroller of Customs Frank Holder; and Maryam Hinds, the director of Barbados Drug Service. Also in attendance were representatives from Kraft Foods Latin America Export USA; Richard Richardson; and Luis Chang, along with representatives from the local retail industry.Todd said that Government “is committed to attaining the goal to develop Barbados as the location of choice to conduct and facilitate business processes”.He commended the company during the brand launch, and added that Government would also seek to provide the enabling framework that would foster long-term stability despite the economic conditions.
