With just one week left before school resumes, hundreds of children and parents converged on Kensington Oval for the Frutee and Chefette Restaurants-sponsored third annual Ovaltastik Fun City.
Tagged as the family event to end the summer with a bang, a wide range of attractions gripped excited youngsters and adults. Children rushed to have their picture taken with popular Nickelodeon characters Dora and Diego.
The 6 In 1 spooky jumping tent, haunted house, Segway rides, treasure hunt, sphere ball, rodeo “bull” and the new addition of the Splash Zone were among the numerous features offering youngsters one last blast of fun.
The moderate crowd also took in the Batting Cage, where aspiring cricketers got the chance to bat against former Barbados players; and The Games Room was back again, along with the Skelectric Cars.
To cap the evening off was a live performance by Li’l Rick and the Hypa Kids.
Henry Inniss, chief executive officer of Kensington Oval Management Inc., said the event had “a pretty good turnout”.
“Ticket sales went reasonably well, however, [though] the turnout was smaller than last year.”
Noting that the show faced competition from other similar events, Inniss said the Ovaltastik Fun City was still holding its own.
“We try to implement something new each year, and this year it was the Fun Zone which has got a lot of attention from the children.” (LK)
