A SECOND-wicket partnership of 96 between Kevon Beckles (50) and Brian Johnson (40) gave LIME a fighting response in their reply to CGI Maple’s 297 all out.
When fading light halted play, the hosts were 178 for six.
Maple had early success when medium-pacer Kirk Brome sent Randy Thomas back to the pavilion when the score was nine.
Johnson joined Beckles and the two carried the fight to the seven bowlers  that were offered.
Beckles struck five fours in his half-century off 91 balls, but soon after his landmark, he was caught by wicketkeeper Collis Worrell off Barrington Yearwood.
The partnership, however, was broken by fast bowler Kemar Roach with his first delivery of a second spell when Johnson edged to Kirk Brome at first slip.
His innings contained four fours and one massive six off Renaldo Parris, which held up play for a while when the ball went into the bush. Maple breathed a sigh of relief with both wickets falling on the score of 105.
