Island Villas vows to keep Going Green

ISLAND VILLAS, a property management and villa sales and rentals company based in Barbados, has launched its environmental policy.
The policy represents the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development and will serve to reinforce the company’s existing Go Green environmental campaign.
Island Villas managing director Richard Eames said: “Since its inception, Island Villas has expanded efforts to accept its corporate social responsibility.
“The Island Villas Charity Fund and the Go Green campaign have been tremendously successful and the company has been proud to support local charitable initiatives, such as the Barbados National Trust and the AIDS Foundation, as well as introduce several innovative eco-friendly initiatives such as recycling bins, annual tree planting, staff training and the use of eco-friendly cleaning products.
“This policy further demonstrates our dedication to sustainable development, especially in the tourism industry, and the company encourages other corporate entities to do the same.”
Earlier this year as part of Earth Day celebrations, the company undertook several other projects – including registering with the Earth Day Network as part of the global effort to generate A Billion Acts of Green.
In the month leading up to Earth Day, the office team ran a paper drive designed to reduce waste and encourage paper recycling.
Reusable bags were also produced and distributed to staff and placed within each property for use as an alternative to plastic bags. (PR)
