I WAS SO ANNOYED RECENTLY when I read of our former Prime Minister Owen Arthur suggesting the nation have a day of mourning for those who perished in last Friday’s fire at Campus Trendz in Tudor Street!
My sympathy goes out to these young women and their families. However, I have a real problem with Mr Arthur asking us to have this day of mourning.
Anyone but Mr Arthur! Can Mr Arthur remember that a group of Christian men and women pleaded with him on more than one occasion to call the nation to a day of prayer back in 2006/2007 when he was Prime Minister?
What did he do about that? He referred the matter to his so-called religious advisors, and they threw it out the door.
Perhaps because they were waiting for God Himself to come down from Heaven and tell them to go ahead with it – that it was a good idea.
What would it have cost Mr Arthur back then to call this nation to a day of prayer and consecration? Maybe, the crime and disturbances we see now would not be with us.
Maybe God is trying to safeguard the nation from the many perils it now faces. Maybe… maybe….
Now all the ministers of the Gospel are voicing their concerns and Mr Arthur, who is no longer Prime Minister, is calling for a day of mourning.
Where were the ministers of the Gospel when Pastor Linda Jones asked them back in April to attend a day of prayer and consecration? Sadly, only a few turned up for the day of prayer.
Mr Arthur, you had your chance to call the nation to a day of prayer. God’s servants were asking you to. Imagine now you are asking for a day of mourning. It could have been different, don’t you think?
