Corporate communications and human resource teams from The Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) and The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) were recently briefed on strategic planning.
The briefing was conducted by Ken Milloy, an internal communications and employee engagement specialist, on matters of internal communication strategy.
Millloy is the CEO of Milloy Management Consultants Inc, a business-focused consulting firm specialising in helping business leaders formulate and realise their vision, strategy and performance goals through aligned and engaged employees.
Stephen Worme, Chief Marketing Officer of Barbados Light & Power explained that Milloy has been working with BL&P since 2005.
“This is Ken’s third visit to the company and his messages and teaching style have yielded results, so we are very pleased to share the benefits of his teaching with our communication colleagues CDB,” said Worme.
Dr Sharon Marshall, CDB’s information officer also found the sessions very pertinent and timely. She stated: “I welcome he opportunity to profit from the counsel of such a noted expert in the field as Ken Milloy in a context where my HR colleagues can benefit. I also regard it as a bonus to be able to share experiences with my counterparts at the Barbados Light & Power Company.
“Ken ensured we remained focused on personal and professional engagement and this will go a long way in assisting us in maintaining clear objectives and successfully communicating with our employees on an ongoing basis.”
On Tuesday, Milloy will join the Barbados Chapter of The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) to host a professional development seminar entitled What Does All This Talk About Employee Engagement Have To Do With Me?
The event which is sponsored by the BL&P will be held in The Christie Conference Room, The Garrison from 6 to 8 pm.
While the seminar is part of IABC’s professional development programme for members, the association is encouraging all Human Resources professionals and trade union representatives to attend as well. (PR)
