The finalists in Barbados’ Best Employers programme should be announced no later than September 20.
This was revealed by Rosalind Jackson, managing director of Caribbean Catalyst Inc., during an interview with BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY on Wednesday.
“We are working to finish our analysis, work with the review panel and then communicate the outcomes with the participants.
“We’re very pleased with the quality of the participants and we’re confident we’re going to have solid finalists in each category and deserving winners as well,” she said.
Individual report
Jackson noted that each participant would get an individual report which would let them see how they stacked up against other companies in their category as well as against all participants in the entire programme.
This would indicate the areas the company would need to work on for continuous improvement in its human resource practices, she said.
Jackson said that in compiling information for the final evaluation, evaluators proceeded only with companies where at least 60 per cent of staff responded.
“We wanted to ensure the information we were using to draw conclusions was statistically sound,” she said, adding that staff members of most organisations were willing to respond.
Jackson said so far it was evident that some companies had strong programmes in place for performance management.
Corporate goals
“Also, one of the things that is coming out strong as well is that in a number of companies, their employees feel that they understand the corporate goals clearly.
“So, obviously, companies are communicating what is important to them,” the managing director said.
However, she added that “on the flip side there are areas that we are seeing that some companies, not all of them, need to do some work in”.
Jackson said she was confident that companies would see the benefits of the biennial initiative, which was conceptualised by Caribbean Catalyst and is being produced in partnership with BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY. (NB)
