THIS YEAR, the Kiwanis’ Silver Dollars For Children programme will be taking on a new face.
Several new faces, in fact, as one of the new initiatives is a number of dollar-themed characters representing the eight charities that will benefit from the drive.
Chairman Lennox Prescod said the Kiwanis were also launching a brochure, both in hard copy and online, which detailed what the programme was about as well as the charities; tax deductible pledge forms and a jingle, penned by Don Marshall and produced and performed by Anderson Blood Armstrong.
Prescod was speaking on Saturday night after the official launch of the programme in Divi Southwinds Beach Resort, St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church.
He said the proceeds from the programme would be going to the same eight charities: the AIDS Society of Barbados; Asthma Association of Barbados; Barbados Cancer Society; the Learning Centre; the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados Inc; Barbados Council For The Disabled; the Hope Foundation, the Caribbean Dyslexia Association as well as the Barbados Olympic Association and various Kiwani youth initiatives.
