How would you define your personal style?
Paula Hinds: Classy, unique, defined.
Do you find that you follow fashion trends or do you play by your own rules?
Play by my own rules.
Has your fashion sense changed over the years or has it remained the same?
My favourite colour has remained (black) but I have developed my own sense of fashion, moving from the era of asking others’ opinion of what looks good on me to just being true to me even if people don’t like what I wear. In the past I have hidden my arms and legs now I celebrate them . . . they are part of my uniqueness.
Are there any colours that you tend to shy away from, and if so, why?
I used to shy away from white because many folks always said it made you look bigger. I made the decision it’s not the clothing that makes the woman but the woman who defines the clothing she wears, and the rest is history.
As a child, were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?
I was never was into clothes like how ladies/men must have a new outfit for every function. I am very selective and make deliberate efforts to buy functional pieces that are of good quality that see me through every season and still have a cutting edge to them.
How does your day-to-day life factor into your wardrobe choices?
My life moves from simple (hanging out with my nephew Alexander – two years old) to singing at some major event, therefore I love easy to wear, quick to change, and comfort for long hours in clothing and shoes.
Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out for you?
I love Wayne Smith, Lester Welch (local designers) other designers like R&M Richards, Worthington Woman and any designer who has a proven track record for full-figured women.
