Lovers of horse racing will have the chance to come out and support their favourite horses and jockeys when the rescheduled tenth and final day of the Barbados Turf Club’s second racing season concludes this Saturday.
There’s a ten-race card scheduled after unfavourable track conditions caused the postponement last weekend. The programme, which is scheduled to race off at 12:45 p.m. will have as its feature, the Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Sales Graduates Colts and Geldings Trophy.
This is Race 5 with the Lord Michael Taylor-owned Island Memories taking the top weight of 123 pounds. Island Memories disappointed last start in the Kathleen Taylor Memorial Stakes And Trophy over1 100 metres, finishing at the back of the pack.
However, prior to that he was a two-length winner in the Buckingham Palace Conditions race over 1 000 metres, and should rebound from his poor run last start, and beat this field.
All the others will carry 116 pounds and can use the penalty given to Island Memories to their advantage.
Much has been made of Lord Michael Taylor’s acquisition of Must Be The Money, a full brother to Show Me The Money. The connections are very excited by this colt, who is reported to be working extremely well.
Blue Lightning is by (Forty Mile – Royal Blues), and on pedigree can be expected to fire early for his owner Michelle Skinner, while the Kenny Joseph-owned Born To Win by (Pen In Hand – Scorch Them) is bred for speed, but may find the outside draw a challenge.
Sir Charles Williams-owned Jamaica Quill by (Thady Quill – Jamaica Girl) looks a bright prospect. the combination of Williams, Nunes, and Trotman have been doing remarkably well with their two-year-olds, so this colt should have its fair amount of support.
Elias Haloute will be represented by Dunwiddat (Inourwildestdreams – St Georgia), one to watch closely. Jean Marc Cozier-owned King Of Pop (Lion Country – Jersey Girl) on pedigree alone might need a longer trip than 1 100 metres.
The J. B. Springer-owned King Of Diamond ran a much improved race in the Kathleen Taylor Memorial Stakes And Trophy over 1 100 metres, despite not finding a place, and will improve for the run, so he should go very close here.
The others are the Jonathon Simpson-owned and trained Whatadeal by (Moon Solitaire – Dance Numerous), and D and G Syndicate Ifnottodaytomorrow (Happy Memories – Ossi De Seppia) who still seems to need some time to learn the game.
