First the honey, then the money

Dear Christine,
This is the first time I’m writing to your column. I always enjoy the advice you give. Let me get to the point.
A bit more than a couple months ago, I started a relationship with a guy. He borrowed a large sum of money from me. In February this year, he came to me and asked me if he could borrow this money and promised me he would pay me back.
Christine, I had to go to the police station and tell the police that this man whom I trusted as a friend would not pay me back.
Would you believe that he denied it. He told the police officer that he never ever borrowed any money from me. I never knew this so-called friend was such a dirty liar.
Christine, this man is such a liar. How could he swear that he never borrowed any money from me. The Bible says whatsoever a man sows so shall he reap.
I have left him in God’s hands, Christine. I had to break free from that relationship that was not going anywhere in life. All that devil wanted was sex and money.
I called him a devil because he is indeed one. I do not tolerate liars. I would like him to read Proverbs 12: 19 and 22.  A lying tongue is but for a moment, lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. May God continue to richly bless you.
He will pay dearly for what he did.  God sees and knows every thing we say and do.

Dear S,
You did the right thing by dumping this man. He was obviously using you.
We have a concern, though, that you and all those who are so much in love should realise. That is, it is never wise to lend your lover money without making him or her sign for it.
You should do this not because you don’t trust them, but to ensure that if or when passions die down they would still have to honour their obligation. – Christine
