Barbados’ Best Employers Awards winners will be revealed on Thursday during a luncheon ceremony at Hilton Barbados.
The Caribbean Catalyst Inc. event, being held in association with BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY and the Nation Publishing Company, was open to public and private sector organisations of all sizes and will award the top companies in three categories.
Steve Houchin, managing partner of International Leadership Associates, will be the featured speaker.
Large Category finalists include:
• Banks Holdings Limited (BHL), a beverage conglomerate whose portfolio ranges from beverages to bottles. BHL has a staff count of 608.
• Purity Bakeries has been a household name in Barbados since 1930. Purity, a manufacturer of bread products, currently employs 190 people.
• Royal Bank of Canada is a subsidiary of RBC Financial Group in Canada, trading as RBC Royal Bank (Barbados) Limited. It has been operating in Barbados since 1911 and employs 352 people.
• Scotiabank entered the Barbadian landscape in 1956 as one of North America’s premier financial institutions. The Canadian bank employs 300 people.
Medium Category finalists are:
• Cidel Bank & Trust Inc., the largest privately owned bank and trust company incorporated in Barbados. The Cidel group’s services are designed to preserve and enhance the wealth of clients around the world. Cidel was incorporated in 1998 and employs 65 people.
• FedEx provides customers and businesses worldwide with a broad portfolio of transportation, e-commerce and business services. FedEx began operating in Barbados in 1987 and employs 53 people.
• Little Switzerland is a privately owned duty-free luxury brand retailer with over 55 years’ retail experience in the Caribbean and United States. It has 26 employees in Barbados and has had a presence here since 1996.
Small Category finalists are:
• CMMB (Barbados) Limited, which commenced operations in Barbados in 2004. CMMB provides investment advice, buys and sells bonds, and trades in securities. It employs 11 people.
• Globe Finance is a non-bank financial institution launched in May 1998. Globe Finance is jointly owned by Sagicor Life Inc., Goddard Enterprises Limited and Sagicor General Insurance Inc. and is the second-largest indigenous finance company in Barbados, with 15 employees.
• Summit Bank International Bank Limited is a private wealth-management operation licensed as an international bank. It manages and trades investments in global markets. Summit has been in Barbados since 2006 and currently employs ten people.
