Dear Nesta,
LORD, SHOW  WE SOME MERCY!
How life treatin’ yuh, chile? I know it always full o’ ups an’ downs but we got to face it as bes’ we could! See de glass haf full ’stead o’ haf empty! Sence dah tragic fire we had recently, I down hey prayin’ fuh God mercy to keep all o’ we safe – de good as well as de bad! We still got couple monfs to go befo’ de hurricane season come to a close an’ so far, we only been battlin’ some very rainy wevver wif high win’s!
I en neider wevver scholar, but it seem to me dese hurricanes beginnin’ further up norf dan befo’, an’ mebbe dah is one reason we been fortunate so far. It don’ mean doh, dat we mus’ get too easy in min’ an’ believe evaht’ing done, life could change in a minute!
But it en only de wevver I t’inkin’ an’ prayin’ ’bout! Sence de Prime Minister doctor come out an’ tell we wuh ’e gine t’rough, it seem I need  to stop down longer ’pon muh knees! I en only lightin’ a candle at church, I now got couple burnin’ home at me – mekkin’ sure dat nutten don’ ketch afire, aldoh I insure – ’cause it look as ef he han’s is still de bes’ to guide we at dis time!
A big-up frien’ I got, always tellin’ muh dat “no man is an islan”, but I gine ax she ef she got dah phrase right, ’cause it appear we ’pon a “go-slow” sence de Prime Minister was sick. I only hope it don’ mean he is de onlies’ body able to steer dis ship!
A survey come out an’ put Chris Sinckler as de man mos’ Bajans want to see tek ovuh ef – God fuhbid – Mr Thompson evuh decide to step aside! Aldoh it should mek yuh see de way people t’inkin’, we still got a long way off from mekkin’ dah kin’ o’ decision!
Apart from de belief dat some folk feel ’e too young an’ en got de necessary experience, don’ fuhget one or two ethuhs waitin’, perhaps not so patient, in de wings, to come forward, ef necessary! Fuh my one part, all I concentratin’ ’pon right now is to hear de Prime Minister healf  tek a turn fuh de better an’ dat ’e able to tek charge once mo’!
Hey, by de way, I hope you en one o’dem ovuhseas landowners wif  lan’ down hey  mekkin’ de islan’ look as bad as evuh wif all dah ovuhgrown bush an’ rubbish! Las’ year, de Minister o’ Healf was good enuff to start cleanin’ up de bariffle o’ empty lots, wif de onderstandin’ owners would pay de cos’ – $800.000!  Up to now, de Ministry en get back much money!
Why people always t’ink evuht’ing is guvment responsibility? De Minister promise ef payments don’ start comin’ in, de lan’ gine up fuh sale, which is only fair. I hope it really happen, ’cause people got to realise duh cyahn do wuhevuh duh like, or dat “contacks” en gine always wuk! Far as I concern, de Minister right! Ef yuh don’ hear, yuh mus’ feel! I now waitin’ to see when de firs’ plot gine sell off!– Tek care o’ yuhselfYuh frien’ Babsie
