ROSEAU – Police on Tuesday formally charged 22-year-old Sarah Lyn Augustine with stabbing to death her two children earlier this month.
Police said that five-year-old Rachael and two-month-old Sophia Vigilante were killed while they slept in their bed on September 16.
Augustine, accompanied by police, a psychiatrist and hospital staff was allowed to attend her children’s funeral last Friday.
The mother, who has been undergoing psychiatric treatment for what officials said were symptoms of post partum disorder, appeared before a magistrate on Tuesday where the charges were read out to her.
Meanwhile, police also charged three people with murder following the death of a 40-year-old man over the weekend.
Herbert Xavier, Manuela Williams and Loretta Xavier are accused of beating their brother Harrison Williams to death last Friday night. They were not required to enter a plea and will re-appear in court on February 18 next year when the preliminary inquiry will begin. (CMC)
