For the next hour, Barbados will be under a flash flood warning.
The warning was issued at 3:15 this afternoon. Acting director of the Met Office Hampden Lovell says the heavy rains are due to a combination of light winds and an abundance of a low level moisture and strong day time heating which produced moderate to heavy showers and thunder storms.
As a result, areas in central, western and north western sections of the island were affected.
The Nation is receiving reports that some St Michael areas are flooded, including Warrens, Halls Road, Haggatt Hall, Tudor Bridge, Bridge Gap and Queen’s Park. There are also reports that there is heavy rain in Jackson and Cane Garden, St Thomas .
The Met Office is cautioning residents in flood prone areas to be on the alert and take the necessary precautions.
