6:30 p.m. Saturday Oct 2, 2010 – An attempted armed robbery this afternoon at the Barbados Lumber Company’s head office at Waterford, St Michael, left some employees traumatised.
Around 2:30 p.m., a man walked into the company’s sales office brandishing a gun and demanding cash but fled quickly afterwards in a waiting car.
Reports are he got away emptyhanded.
Chief executive officer Trevor Ifill, on arrival at the scene, said: “We don’t believe he got away with anything but we’ll go through our surveillance camera shortly”.
He says at least three female staffers are shaken by the incident – the cashier, supervisor and a sales associate.
The Network Services had to be called in to counsel staff. (RJ)
