Forward/centre Antonio Sealy had a game-high 25 points as QC opened their United Insurance Under-19 Basketball title defence with a tough 59-49 victory over “Kolij” on Tuesday at Crumpton Street.
Jamal Singh added ten points for the 2009 double-crown champs while Darian Chandler provided the hosts’ top score with 11.
At Massiah Street, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic extended Lodge’s near three-year winless streak via a 63-26 victory over the home side.
Ashley Smith led all scorers with 13, and Omar Bowen and Justin Maloney chipped in with 12 and ten points, respectively. Jamar Forde was the lone Lodge player in double digits, scoring ten.
Former kings Barbados Community College overcame Chiamaka Browne’s 31-point effort and held on for a 73-62 home victory against upstart KFC Combermere at The Eyrie.
Prolific swingman Darren Hunte led the way with 22 points, while Jason Gladstone and Jae Harris added 13 and ten respectively, as the hosts broke open the game in the second half after holding a mere three-point (30-27) lead at intermission.
For Combermere, Kareem Tyrell had 12 points and Tionne Bostic netted ten in his first game for the Waterford side. (JM)
