With four women being diagnosed with breast cancer each week in Barbados, a number of groups across the island have joined the Barbados Cancer Society in the fight to reduce these startling numbers.
One is the Togetherness Action Group based in Jackmans, St Michael. Yesterday chairperson Patricia Parris, along with several members of the group, took turns in distributing information about the dreaded disease at Super Centre supermarket in Warrens, St Michael.
Former Barbados Prime Minister Owen Arthur was one of a number of shoppers who stopped to make monetary contributions to the cause, and also received a pink ribbon as an indication of support.
Here, Arthur making his donation as his former executive secretary Shirley King looks on. (CH)
