WE ALWAYS LOOKÂ at the drug dealer and arms dealer as the bad men. Yes they are, but they are not alone in that business.
When you have drugs and guns coming in on planes, when you have boats traversing the seas, this is teamwork.
We have a young man who comes from a family that has nothing, and what does he do? He goes and joins people who make him feel good about himself.
And what does he have to do in return? Whatever his group leader says.
And this is not just to put blame on the less fortunate, because some people who are themselves fortunate are of the same practice.
So how can we stop this? You know what? We cannot.
This is just the reality of life because of who and what are involved. But we can slow it down by our not contributing to the trend.
People are hurting each other through the seven deadly sins: gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, pride, lust and envy, which have been there before our time; but if we could stem them, we could live longer and on better terms.
It would be for this countryâs better way of life. The Government must play its part too. It must start working for its people.
That means a lower cost of living, a cheaper food bill, fewer harsh taxes and greater access to better health care.
Our civil servants need to be dealt with well. These are the people this country depends on.
They need to be better cared for so they are not tempted to look the other way. Crime has become widespread.
If we donât take charge as a people, we will all fall like the stars from the sky. Let us not give succour to criminals.
I love Barbados and my Barbadian people, and so should all of you. How else can we make a change for a brighter tomorrow in a better Barbados?
