Safest month since 2002

KINGSTON – The Jamaica police have recorded a 42 per cent decline in murders for last month making it the safest month since July 2002 when 72 people were murdered.
Figures released by police show that for the month of September this year, 77 people were killed as compared with 132 last year.
According to the figures, the 77 people killed last month was the lowest number of murders recorded in any one month since the start of the year. The overall reduction in recorded murders for September 2010 when compared to September 2009 was 55.
The September 2010 murder figures continued the trend of the last three months, where murders recorded have fallen below 100. (CMC)
