Stephen Edghill, a long-standing businessman and chairman of ANSA McAL Barbados, has fallen critically ill in Miami, Florida.
In an interview from the United States earlier today, his wife Lyse said Edghill appeared to have suffered a heart attack.
She said the two were on their way to customs at Miami International Airport Thursday when he collapsed on the airport’s rolling sidewalk.
“Two guys who were on the [rolling sidewalk] with us performed CPR for a long time and they were able revive him and get a heartbeat until paramedics came,” she explained.
Edghill, in his 60s, is currently in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at University of Miami Hospital and his wife said he was expected to undergo a number of tests and surgical procedure yesterday.
The two were in Florida for a two-week holiday and to participate in a golf tournament.
Edghill, a retired chief executive officer at ANSA McAL, took up the post of chairman earlier this year.
