TORONTO – A handsome triple by Barbadian Patrick Husbands dominated proceedings at Woodbine on Friday, propelling him closer to leader Eurico Da Silva and past CAN$7 million in earnings for the season.
The 36-year-old reinsman, currently in second place in the jockeys’ standings, captured Races 2, 3 and 8 to move to 131 wins and to $7 012 416 in money.
Husbands, who has claimed the jockeys’ title for the last three seasons, kicked off his success in the $24 800 Race 2 going five furlongs, when he piloted Eugene Melnyk’s four-year-old gelding Dukes Alley to victory by a length. (CMC)
