IT WAS from grief to glory for Ince Transport MTW’s captain Curtis “Baldy” Greene and the Pine Basin-based cricket team at the Desmond Haynes Oval yesterday.
Saddened by the loss of his younger brother Amon Greene in a vehicular accident the night before, his sorrow was replaced by success on the cricket field when he lifted the Sagicor General Shield for the first time with a 28-run victory over fellow finalists Pine Hill Dairy St John Cultural.
“It was painful but I had to do it and this one [title] is for him. I wasn’t affected in my batting [by his death], but before the game and while fielding emotions kept coming; but I tried to hold strong,” the MTW captain said.
He made 35 off 26 balls and struck four boundaries. (EZS)
