Dozens of supporters are now gathered in the courtyard of Parliament Buildings waiting for their “leader” Mia Mottley to emerge from the Opposition Office.
The vocal group took issue with Owen Arthur’s return to the helm of the Barbados Labour Party, a decision made earlier today after some members of the parliamentary group met at the BLP Roebuck Street headquarters. After the meeting at party headquarters, George Payne told the Press that Mottley no longer commands the confidence of the majority of members of the Parliamentary group.
Some Mottley supporters say, however, that she is still their leader.
One supporter told the Nation, “Arthur had his time. Mia Mottley is the leader”.
