Tears for Thompson

Tears flowed at Sunday night’s inter-denominational praise and thanksgiving service in St John for the late Prime Minister David Thompson.
It was a night when the cup of sorrow of the people of St John was full and overflowing on the field of Gall Hill.  Mara Thompson wept for her husband, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler cried for his leader, colleague and friend. Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health Irene Sandiford-Garner also cried for the man who influenced her to run for elective politics. They were joined by other friends and hundreds of other Barbadians who remembered the departed Prime Minister.
Thompson died early Saturday morning at 2:10 at his private residence at Mapps, St Philip after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
 Sunday night’s inter-denominational praise and thanksgiving service for the late David Thompson will linger in the memory of all those who listened, prayed and sang for a shade over two hours.
Chief organiser, Reverend David Durant said the event was a success and the response overwhelming.
New Prime Minister Freundel Stuart delivered the feature address, noting that many would have been gladdened by Thompson’s life and saddened by his death.
