Flood warning off

The flood warning for Barbados has been discontinued.
As of midday today, officials from the Barbados Meteorology Services, said Barbados was no longer under a flood warning following Saturday’s battering by Tropical Storm Tomas, which passed over this island in the early hours of that morning.
Tomas was upgraded to a category one hurricane as it left a trail of destruction in this country.
Met officials, however, still note that conditions are unstable and there is the possibility of some outbreaks of light to moderate showers as the day progresses.
Barbados was under a flood warning from late Saturday until 6 this morning. At that time, the warning was extended until noon as a result of the pockets of moderate to heavy showers that were likely to continue spreading across Barbados during the morning. “Analysis during the night has suggested only slow improvement in the unsettled conditions presently affecting the island…” according to the bulletin issued at 7 a.m.
Barbadians are now cleaning up after the damage done by Tomas. From early today there were long queues at gas stations and supermarkets where people have been stocking up on supplies.
There has also been an announcement that there will be no school tomorrow.
