Some dances told stories, others attempted to heal wounds, remove scars and create laughter or simply bring a smile on people’s faces as they danced their way through the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) Madame Ifill Dance Showcase on Wednesday night at Frank Collymore Hall.
Dancers put their best foot forward as they competed for the Madame Ifill Award for Dance which will be “presented to the individual or group capable of combining mind, melody and movement. . .to make magic,” components which were evident in all of the 17 dance pieces.
Some of the groups competing included Soul, Praise Academy, the Israel Lovell Foundation, Pearl Dance Group, Haynesville Youth Club .
