More than 45 children from Queen’s College and Springer Memorial School escaped serious injury when their school bus crashed into a parked Barbados Water Authority truck on Montrose Road, Christ Church around 4.30 p.m. yesterday.
The front of the bus was badly damaged. Many of the students suffered from the shock of the collision which some residents described as a loud and frightening bang. By the time that the police and representatives of the Barbados Transport Board arrived on the scene a number of the children had left the area on foot seeking alternative transportation home.
Residents said some of the children who had left had scratches and scrapes.
Personnel from the Transport Board and the police were interviewed the remaining children.
Also on the scene were a number of concerned parents in response to calls from their children. The bus journey started in Husbands, St. James and was scheduled to finish in St. Philip.(KB)
