Restaurateur Sue Walcott is rolling with the punches when it comes to her Brigetown business, the Waterfront Cafe.
With people avoiding The City due to even worse traffic congestion from the closure of Wharf Road, she said, “We made it through summer, which was tough, and we did not lay off any staff.”
Expecting the coming winter tourist season to be “unpredictable”, Walcott – like many other local entrepreneurs – is hopeful that the economy has passed the worst stage.
“I suspect people will get more confident about spending in 2011,” she said as her restaurant enjoyed a relatively good night last Friday.
