Stuart: Barbados will rise

Barbados will come out of the global economic crisis like the knight in shining armour, promises Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
The Prime Minister gave the assurance Sunday to a packed Western Light Church Of The Nazarene at a service marking the start of the Democratic Labour Party’s Week of Activities.
“I?have every confidence that given the well known resilence of our people over a long number of years that when this recession comes to an end, Barbados will emerge a knight in shining armour,” said Stuart to thunderous applause in the Oxnards, St James chuch.
Before a congregation that included members of the Cabinet and the Senate and before officiating minister Reverend Carlyle Isaac, the Prime Minister made it clear he was committed as leader to upholding the DLP’s proud tradition of governance.
“If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything, and Barbados has to decide what it is it really stands for as a nation. The Democratic Labour Party has always set the highest standards for Barbados, and that will continue without compromise under my leadership,” he said.
Stuart added that it was his view that as a nation Barbados had to believe in a core of values.
“We have to be prepared to stand by that core of values and brook no deviation,” he said.
