Efforts to increase awareness of breast cancer in Barbados and channel meaningful assistance to those impacted by the disease received a major filip last weekend when the Crane Resort hosted a special charity/ fund-raising function.
The Town Hall, at the luxurious St Philip-based property, was the venue for a cocktail evening, staged under the theme Tickled Pink and organised by Charity Chicks.
The event was attended by over 200 women, who all contributed through the purchase of tickets, and essentially was a special evening of pampering for females who were mostly dressed in pink outfits.
Throughout the evening they were also served by male volunteers, all wearing pink shirts.
Organisers said proceeds from the function would be donated to The Gift Foundation, a local charity founded by breast cancer survivor Gail Skeete, and which has been instrumental in assisting more than 600 people since its creation.
“We are happy to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause and assist in promoting awareness about the seriousness of breast cancer in our community. We at the Crane are very conscious of our social responsibility,” said Sophia Bryan, group sales manager.
Organisers said the event was a success and among the exciting highlights were the Tickled Pink and Pink Ribbon. (BB)
