KINGSTOWN, St Vincent – The ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) and the main opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) have both nominated candidates to contest all 15 seats in the December 13 general election, electoral officials said today.
The Elections Commission said that the minority Green Party has nominated 14 candidates. There are no independents.
The ULP led by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, is seeking a third consecutive term in office and is expected to face a strong challenge from the NDP led by economist and former prime minister Arnhim Eustace.
The polls are being held nearly four months ahead of the constitutional deadline of March next year. (CMC)
