Easy riders

About?135 bikers participated yesterday in the sixth annual Barbados Motorcycle Club’s round the island tour.
From around 9 a.m. they gathered at the Holborn Esso Service Station and by the time they were ready to push off an hour later, those taking to the road included riders with small 250 cycles, and ATVs, up to those powering the 1800 super chargers, as highlighted in this photograph from Insight Digital.
It was not an occasion to get the most out of the bikes, show off any fancy skills or even test how fast these machines could go, but rather just to have a fun time.
Raymond Belgrave, founder of the club and the main organiser behind yesterday’s event, was happy with the turnout, which attracted those who use their bikes for everyday transportation to those who simply like to have an easy ride mainly on weekends or on a public holiday such as yesterday.
While many of the bikers came alone, some brought their spouses, partners and even children, all appropriately attired.
The bikers had a special man at the helm of their group, police motorcyclist Peter Small, who ensured that all went according to plan.
The islandwide tour was scheduled to end at Brandons, St Michael. (ES)
