INTERNATIONAL JUDO is here again.
And Barbados will be going all out to stamp their authority once more.
The locals will be aiming to shine at the tenth Barbados International Judo Tournament and the Caribbean Judo Team Tournament this weekend.
Dubbed Play Like A Champion, the two-day event will be held at the gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on Saturday and Sunday with action beginning at 9 a.m. daily.
The tournament will feature more than 150 competitors representing 13 countries including the United States, Martinique, Curacao, Bonaire,
The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Suriname and the US Virgin Islands.
One of the names fans can look forward to is Kyle Maxwell, the first Barbadian to win a match at the World Judo Championship when the event was held in Japan earlier this year.
Additionally, he has won many gold medals in local competition.
Another Barbadian who is expected to make an impact is Levar Arthur, who also competed at the World Championship in Tokyo. He is also a multiple winner in local, regional and international tournaments.
Other Barbadian junior stars include Asa Weithers, Onoh Obasi Okey and Kadijah Maxwell, who all won gold in the Bahamas Open and the Caribbean Team Tournament in The Bahamas in August.
Fans can also expect entertainment by Mikey over the two days of competition. (HG/PR)
