A new heritage tour, now in its pilot stage, is set to boost community tourism in Barbados.
Senior tourism development officer in the Ministry of Tourism, Jacqueline Pollard, said today that Freedom Footprints: The Barbados Story is planned to start at the Barbados Museum.
From there, a coach will take visitors along Barbados’ slave route including the Newton slave burial ground, Sweet Bottom, Gun Hill and Bourne’s Land.
Pollard said it was designed to give communities along the tour route the opportunity to sell their Barbadian-produced crafts and food to visitors.
