AMINA DAWE knew she had won something from COURTS Barbados Ltd, but she had no idea that it was the biggest prize for the year.
As the drums rolled, and the green monkey jumped to and fro, the 23-year-old was in shock, and took a while to come to grips with the fact that she won the Free Living For A Year prize, even as MC Patrick Gollop told her over and over again.
Dawe, who bought an LG television, a DVD player and a blender from the Sheraton Branch, is the 16th winner of the promotion.
With a broad smile as she gripped the Free Living placard next to managing director of Unicomer Barbados Ltd, Trisha Tannis, Dawe said she had shopped at the Sheraton Centre Branch with her favourite customer representative Jamila Foster-Clarke.
“She is the best; she is always very helpful when I come to make purchases at Sheraton,” Dawe said.
Although she still lives at home with her mother, Dawe will now benefit from having utilities paid for a year, free petrol, and free groceries from Emerald City or Carlton & A1 supermarkets.
In addition, she can now keep up to date with the latest movies with free movie passes from Olympus Theatre, eat chicken from KFC and enjoy a trip for two on LIAT Airways to any of its 22 destinations.
Marketing manager (production) Anthony Greene told Dawe she was also the perfect candidate for the store’s I-Finance Programme. That, he said, was geared towards young customers like herself between the ages of 18 and 25, offering them easy, affordable and flexible credit.
While congratulating the winner once again, Tannis also used the opportunity to let Dawe and other shoppers know the numerous bargains going on in store and to talk a little about plans for 2011.
She assured the audience that Courts had the customers’ best interests at heart and would be keeping them at the forefront of their plans for 2011.
