A gift of poems

The three daughters of late Prime Minister David Thompson were presented with books containing inspirational poems, prayers and letters written by the female students of the Garrison Secondary School on Wednesday morning.
During the school’s morning assembly, Principal Matthew Farley presented each daughter with a copy of the book entitled From Our Girls to Your Girls.
Farley said the book was a small token of the admiration and appreciation for the greatness of a man who in a short space of time did so much for Barbados.
“I want to commend it to the reading of his daughters; there is a strong bond that exists between daughters and their dad, out of that feeling, that sentiment that we conceptualize this collection,” Farley said.
He hoped that as the next few weeks and months passed, the memory of the tower of strength their father represented in their lives, that they would be able to use the verses contained in the book as they celebrated his contribution and the important role he played in their lives.
Thompson, who passed away on October 23, would have celebrated his 49th birthday on December 25, Christmas day.
The Thompson family will be spending Christmas day in St Lucia, Mara Thompson’s birthplace.
