On Thursday night the inaugural American Airlines 514 Dallas/Fort Worth flight landed at the Grantley Adams International Airport to a high powered reception and warmth typical of Barbados’ tourism product.
Minutes after, captain Myles Mitchell parked the fully booked 757 while brandishing the American and Barbadian flags from the cockpit’s window. Many of the top local tourism players lined the tarmac to welcome the 188 passengers who had arrived on the first flight. Two of the first passengers were David Rice, Director of the Barbados Tourism Authority and deputy chair Austin Husbands.
On the tarmac were Minister of International Business and International Transport, George Hutson, Charge D’Affaires, US Embassy, Brent Hardt, Wellesley Joseph, AA Country Director, Barbados and Trinidad And Tobago, Colin Jordan, President of BHTA, Ralph Taylor, Chairman BTA and PS of Tourism, Andrew Cox.
Tourism Minister Richard Sealy was also present.
