Battling century

Kirk Edwards has wasted no time in making an impact on his return to local cricket after his aborted tour to Sri Lanka with the West Indies team.
The stylish batsman scored a century for Wanderers yesterday, but Barbados’ oldest club still could be headed for demotion after the final day of the 2010 LIME Division 1 competition today.
While Sagicor UWI have their noses slightly ahead in trying to prevent Super Centre Spartan from dethroning them as champions, there is also plenty of interest at the bottom of the table where Wanderers are still in a fight with a few other teams trying to avoid relegation.
Edwards made an unbeaten 111 that helped Wanderers to 209 for six in response to TeleBarbados Carlton’s 335 at the Desmond Haynes Oval. Should Wanderers concede first innings lead, demotion would seem almost certain.
