Arthritis keeping me down

Dear Christine,
I am writing you these few lines asking for some advice and help.
Christine, I came out of work medically unfit. I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis from my right shoulder right down to my feet and leg, and osteoarthritis in my left wrist, knee and ankle. I also suffer from hip problems and bad circulation in my feet.
The arthritis hurts me mostly in my joints and bones very bad, so bad that some days I am immobile, I cannot do anything for myself, not even to wash my clothes or plait my hair because the joints in my fingers, shoulder and elbow hurt, especially when outside is very cold.
The reason I am writing you is because I would like some help with a loan so that I could purchase a washing machine and a bed. That way I would be able to wash my clothes and not have to depend on anybody to wash them for me. Sometimes two weeks go by and I don’t get my clothes washed.
The bed that I sleep on is very hard and I would like a foam bed because when I get up in the morning I am in a lot of pain and discomfort.
I would like about $1 500 to purchase these items. I can afford to pay back $150 a month.
Christine, I went to a couple of lending agencies to see if I could get a loan to purchase these items and was turned down because I have no documents as proof that the property I am living at right now is mine. That’s because my father died two years ago and left no will or anyone responsible for his bank book. So, when I went to the bank to get a loan I was told I was not qualified.
As I had a loan for an emergency operation I was told to go to that bank and get a loan, but still can’t get any even though my pension goes through this same bank.
Christine, I can get help from two persons but they want to have a sexual relationship, but I cannot do that.

Dear S,
What you are going through is very sad and I sincerely hope that one of our readers will be able to respond to your needs.
Based on the tone of your letter it is clear you know the difference between right and wrong, and intend to stand up for your morals.
I applaud you!
Those two men who are only willing to assist you in exchange for your womanhood are not your friends. They are selfish individuals who only care about their personal gratification. They should be ashamed!
Another aspect of your letter which I have to comment on is the need for people to make a will, especially those that are elderly. People need to recognise that a will is the best way to minimise family squabbles over property and to ensure that who
they want to benefit from their wealth, actually does.
Making a will is not as expensive or as difficult as many may think, neither does it mean that you are surrendering your rights to anything before you’re ready.
It’s simply a case of ensuring that in case the inevitable occurs sooner than you may have planned, that what you would want done with your property would be done.
Finally, I realise that some people on pensions find it difficult to get help from the Welfare Department as they may no longer meet the tight criteria for assistance. But you have nothing to lose if you call and speak with one of the professionals there about your situation as they may be able to find some way to assist you.
S, my prayers are with you. Please keep us informed of your situation.
– Christine
