THIRTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD Melissa Holder of Danesbury, Black Rock, St Michael, suffered a miscarriage after being beaten by a man on Tuesday night.
According to police public relations officer, Inspector David Welch, around 9:30 Holder reported that she was beaten by a man whom she knows in Boyce Land, Free Hill, Black Rock.
He said that Holder, who was four months pregnant, sought refuge at a friend’s house, also in Danesbury, where she passed the foetus.
When the DAILY NATION caught up with Holder yesterday afternoon after she had returned home from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), she said that she was too distraught and shocked to talk about the incident and the loss.
However, the mother of four acknowledged that the foetus was that of a fully developed baby, but she “was so shocked” that she “did not cry” and she was unsure of its sex because “everything happened so fast”.
When police arrived on the scene, the foetus was found in a pit toilet. When asked to elaborate, Holder’s response was: “What you gine do with it? You can’t keep a foetus that sort of way; you had to throw it way or bury it or something.” (AH)
