Five hurt in crash

FIVE PEOPLE spent the early hours of the New Year at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, following a two-car smash-up.
The accident occurred along Prospect, St James, at 4:10 a.m.
One of the drivers, Michael Thorpe Jr, 20,  of Husbands Crescent, St James, had to be cut  from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. He was experiencing neck and chest pains.
His passengers, Ajani Stoute,19, of Fitts Village, and Christopher Snagg, of Husbands Crescent, both in St James, complained of back pain and abrasions to the right calf and side, respectively.
The other driver, 41-year-old Patrick Worrell  of Ferniehurst, Black Rock, St Michael, and his passenger, Ingrid Knight, 46, of Kendal Hill, Christ Church, reported of neck and chest pains.
A check with the Barbados Fire Service revealed that already three vehicular accidents and one car fire are on the books for 2011. (CA)
