POLITICAL ADVISOR HARTLEY?Henry has been released from hospital in the United States after falling ill suddenly over the Christmas period.
When contacted yesterday, Henry, who is still in the United States, stopped just short of confirming reports that he had suffered a heart attack, but he told the SUNDAY?SUN he was feeling much better and looking forward to playing an active role in the upcoming by-election in St John.
The former principal political advisor to late Prime Minister David Thompson had earlier declared immediately following Thompson’s death on October 23 that “the kingmaker dies with the king”.
But he is now throwing his full weight behind the candidacy of Thompson’s widow, Mara, and is due back in Barbados this week to assist with her campaign.
“A lot of work has already been done but we still have things to do in the coming weeks,” said Henry, who is no stranger to the political hustings. He represented the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) in the 1999 general election in the St George South constituency, losing to the Barbados Labour Party’s Louis Tull (now Sir Louis) by more than  1 000 votes.
He was also the chief strategist for the DLP’s successful 2008 general election campaign and currently advises several other governments across the region. (JS/KJ)
