The Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) will be making the still unfinished St John Polyclinic at Gall Hill a major issue of the January 20 by-election.
And yesterday BLP candidate Hudson Griffith told the NATION that during his campaign he would be highlighting this and other aspects of what he described as the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) Government’s “neglect of St John”.
The self-employed businessman, who said he would be canvassing the constituency as though his “life depended on it”, indicated that thus far constituents he had approached had been listening to him.
“No one has slammed the door in my face,” Griffith said.
Questioned how he would explain to St John folk the failure of the previous BLP administration to do anything with the polyclinic between 1994 and 2008, Griffith said that period could be balanced by the fact that the parish had been represented by a DLP politician since 1958. The first-time candidate said he wanted this opportunity to make a difference.
