The redeveloped Harrison’s Cave has received the thumbs up from Minister of the Environment, Water Resource Management and Drainage Denis Kellman who toured the attraction recently.
Kellman said he was quite impressed with the new offerings and its emphasis on going green.
“The Harrison’s Cave is a good example for others to follow, and it has allowed the ministry a golden opportunity to launch its greening programme,” he said.
The Cave’s CEO, Joe-Ann Grant said Barbadians can expect some “thrilling eco-and soft-adventure activities” shortly.
The attraction boasts a new cave interpretive centre, visitor reception centre, and parking facilities on the cliff-top site.
It also has three glass fronted elevators and timber and stone walkways for alternative descent to the Valley (bottom) Floor, which accommodates five vending kiosks and a refreshment bar.
There are also interpretive exhibits throughout the property.
In terms of its green features, the Cave has a waste-water treatment plant as well as a composting station on site. It also utilises photo-voltaic technology and practises water harvesting.
