MONTEGO BAY – A first-half strike from Jason Wright handed Jamaica a 1-0 victory over Guatemala on Saturday, and confirmed their place in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Under-17 Boys’ Championship.
Wright landed a 45th minute strike, and the Jamaicans defended the lead stubbornly in the second half at the Catherine Hall Stadium.
The result put them in a two-way tie at the top of Group C on four points with Caribbean Football Union rivals Trinidad and Tobago.
The Young Reggae Boyz then won a drawing of lots to break the tie, which meant they were declared group winners, and will face Group D runners-up Honduras on Wednesday in the last eight at the same venue.
Trinidad will meet Group D winners Canada on the same day. (CMC)
