The Oscar-nominated movie Black Swan which was originally banned by Barbados Film Censorship Board has now been given a restricted rating.
This was confirmed today by an official in the Ministry of Culture.
Originally, the Board had banned the film, because it deemed it inappropriate for viewing because of offensive sexual behaviour. The film contains homo-erotic scenes.
The Board’s first decision was appealed and after the process was followed as outlined in the Films Act, the movie has now been given an R rating.
According to the Act, restricted means that the Board, Â considers that viewing of the film should be restricted to persons 18 years and older because it contains strong language, nudity, sexual situations or violence.
