Much was expected of Jamahl Burke yesterday. And the top athlete from West Terrace Primary certainly delivered at the Patsy Callender Zone 5 of the National Primary Schools Athletic Championships.
Burke was in vintage form in the sprints, winning the Under-13 Boys 100 metres for the St James school, en route to sharing the victor ludorum title with Justin Millington of Charles F. Broome. It proved to be a great day for Charles F. Broomes, as they defended their favourite status by earning the boys’ title ahead of arch-rivals Bayleys Primary.
Christ Church Girls were the female champions yesterday, edging Bayleys, as the St Philip school had to settle for the runner-up position in both sections.
