Bank has new deputy

The Central Bank of Barbados has appointed a new Deputy Governor.
Harold Codrington, who served as special advisor to former Governor Dr Marion Williams and current Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell, took up the position on March 1.
Codrington, an economist, has been with the Central Bank for 32 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of the West Indies and an Master of Arts in economics from York University in Canada.
The 60-year-old joins Cleviston Haynes as the other deputy governor to Worrell. Haynes has served in several capacities, including chief economist, adviser to the Governor and, more recently, director of the Bank Supervision Department.
According to a release from the Central Bank, “Codrington brings superb credentials and vast experience to the post, having served at the bank for close to 32 years, many of which were spent in a senior management position.
“He has held the posts of economist, senior economist, technical assistant to the Canadian executive director for Canada and the Caribbean at the International Monetary Fund [and] deputy director of the Research Department”.
Codrington is an active member of the Barbados Economics Society (BES), serving on its executive board for several years. He has been a long-standing editor of the BES Newsletter.
The newest Deputy Governor is also involved in mentoring young economics students at the University of the West Indies and in terms of  research Codrington is best know for his work on regional integration and balance of payments. He has also edited a number of Central Bank books.
