Kingstown, St. Vincent – A four man team from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) was scheduled to arrive on Union Island today to commence investigations in a plane crash.

The private aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Union Island Airport at around 10:45am Saturday morning.

Initial reports said the plane lost a wheel on touchdown and crashed in an area near to the airport.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the airport. However, there were no reports of injury or death.

Union Island is part of the nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is the southernmost island of the Grenadines and lies 90 kilometers southwest of Barbados and is within view of the islands of Carriacou and the mainland of Grenada, which lie directly south. (CMC)
